INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT)
Computers are used in information technology (IT) to generate, process, store, retrieve, and communicate many types of data and information. Unlike personal or recreational technology, IT is primarily used in the context of commercial operations. Information and communications technology includes IT (ICT). An information technology system (IT system) is typically an information system, a communications system, or, more specifically, a computer system, complete with all peripheral devices, software, and hardware, that is used by a small number of IT users.
As for the company that we interview which is MASKARGO they only use barcodes in the process. When they scan the barcodes it will upload on their system and the system will always update where the goods are until it arrived at the drop off point.
So far it is okay because if they want to get more advance in the technology it will cost more money. The technology that they use when handling their order was just the same with the barcode system it will automatically upload on their system. Their system is useful and it will always upload when the cargo or goods arrived at their cargo terminal.
MASKARGO only deal with the forwarding agent so they don't have any technology to deal with public customers. Because their customer mostly has recognize and know with their service so they already know the flow on how to interact with them.
Another thing that They don't use RFID because it is costly , hard to handle and not for worldwide usage. The ones that RFID passive and that can be used in the car easy to used on the cars but when they want to pass the tolls there is always a system malfunction and can't Bypass the tolls.
For the conclusion they did not want to advance their technology yet and use more of labour work because they were still using the same system to tracking their orders with barcodes because it is cost efficient and still make profit for the company.
